Stone

I wrote this once and have kept it but didn’t know what else I could do with it. It’s sort of a rambling trail of thoughts I had one day when I considered rocks and all of the long history, the many transformations they go through over time. My apologies for its seeming unfinshedness. But then, is there ever really an end for them?

Make of it what you will.

O stone in my hand, what are you?

~ The Vast Sweep of Time ~

O stone in my hand, what are you?

Ancient forests and
Steaming swamps

Lovely grassland and
Meadow flower

Towering cliffs and
Endless savanna

Crashing storm and
Soaking rain

Wonderful waterfalls and
Mighty ocean

Scorching desert and
Icy tundra

Sunny days and
Moonlit nights

Angry, Roaring Lion and
sweet, sweet songbird

Love, elation and joy
Tears, grief and heartache

~ a quintillionfold ~

Life, Death and Decomposure

Foundation stone

A rock kicked, smashed
Hurled in rage

The rise
and fall of humankind

Earth

Our Home

Dust we are
And to dust shall we return
